The good news is that we are getting older! And just about all of us are at the start of our 9th decade. 

We've heard about a few celebrations of the arrival of our respective 80th birthdays, and we thought you might like to see some of them. Some are captured on video, some are captured in stories, and all are inspiring in their own way.

If your story is not here, send it in and we will add it to the mix. Just remember that local Fire Departments require a permit for 80 candles or more on a cake.

 Bob's family decided that they were not going to miss his 80th Birthday celebration, Covid or no Covid. So they got in touch with the extended Filoramo family, and reached out the Bob's friends and arranged for a Birthday Car Marathon in front of his house on June 13th. 

It was quite an event, and thanks to Bob's daughter Katie, there were a whole lot of photos and video of the event, and we have that available for your viewing pleasure. See the video below

 Dave Connolly's family decided that the occasion of his 80th Birthday should be immortalized in a video of his extended family and friends wishing Dave a very Happy Birthday. Many of them couldn't resist telling what has come to be known as a Dad joke, or in this case, a Dave joke. They were all hilarious. 

Dave's son Chris masterfully put all the segments together in one video. It didn't hurt that Chris is in the movie business, so you can imagine what the video looked like.

 Peter Donnelly's family contacted the '58 Gang and asked us each to send Peter an 80th Birthday eMail. 

Well, it caught on, and Peter received a stack of emails from friends and family, and from his Prep '58 classmates. Thanks to all who took part.

We received a note from Peter's sisters after the big day...

At the Cuppa on Sep 14th, Walt, Bob Filoramo, John Ricci and Peter Donnelly celebrated Jack's 80th birthday with a cake and a limerick reading. The cake was compliments of Stephanie Grillo, the limerick came from Vince, and an expert reading was delivered by Bob Filoramo.

Happy Birthday, Jack.

"Jim Kozmor just celebrated his 80th birthday and I’m celebrating mine on Oct 12.  

This photo was taken in 1954 in the schoolyard of St Ann’s Polish  grammar school  where we both graduated. Both of us  entered Freshman  year  at the Prep and were the only two students from St Ann’s to go to Prep   

So now we are both in our 80's,  and these memories continue to linger  Although we went to different colleges, both of us worked in the public sector at substantial professional levels     

God has blessed us both."

When I celebrated my 50th birthday my wife Gloria threw me a surprise party. John Connors was invited and what he gave me was a totally unexpected gift.  He wrote a poem dedicated to me  and I was in awe to say the least .  Of course he mentions a few Prepsters in his verses  and Jimmy Kozmor was one of those names.

So I’m sending you this story line in the hopes that you will print it in our blog  to reflect our dearly departed  John Connors  deep feelings about the Prep.

His wife Sylvia, who attended our recent Bar A gathering would be proud.
